On Pregnancy

It’s awkward how comfortable people are asking questions about pregnancy. The same people who never think to stop to ask other questions about my life, happyness, or things of that nature are excited to hear all about the impending birth of my child.

And names! Everyone always asks whether or not we have decided what we’ll name the child. The answer to that question is yes, but I hate to say that because the question that is really being asked is, “Would you like to tell me what you are planning to call your baby?” And in this case, the answer is decidedly, no. My answer to the first question, however, has now become… “Oh yeah, we’ve got our names picked out! If the baby is a girl, we’ll name her Virginia Chastity and call her ‘Chaste’, and if it’s a boy, Voldemort Dumbledore, but we’ll just call him V.D. for short. What do you think?"

All in all though, pregnancy is fun. It’s really exciting thinking about a little person coming along, and hoping that it will have all of Sylvia’s best qualities, and none of my worst. I just wish people would quit patting my belly and guessing when the baby will come!
